As I prepared for my weekly read to a Pre-K and Kindergarten class this morning, I was unaware of the surprise I would receive. A few months ago I wrote a blog about the importance of reading to kids and how other voice artists had shared their experiences with me. For the past six months I have been reading to kids once a week and it has been an amazing experience. It is a delight to be welcomed by kids that are so eager to learn and listen. Being Valentine's Day, the kids were bubbling with energy and excitement. When I completed reading the two books I brought for our visit, the kids told me they had a surprise for me. The kids had made Valentines for me and gave me a plethora of treats. I was overjoyed with their sweetness!
When we give our time and help others, we are likely to have unlimited sweet surprises. If you are a voice over talent I would highly recommend connecting with a local organization to read to kids. Whatever your interests and talents, finding ways to give back to others will enhance your own learning and growth. Be ready to be surprised!
