- Roots - In voice over, a root system could be how you take care of yourself with proper exercise, eating habits, as well as your support community. A root system for crops provides nourishment, sustenance, and stability just as it would to voice over talents. Establishing a strong foundation enhances the probability that healthy crops will develop. We can often miss the strength of a crop if we only look at the leaves.
- Consistent Care - Voices can be exciting and pleasant to listen to but it takes consistent practice, energy, and inspiration to keep improving and exceeding your goals. Gardens are relaxing to view but require lots of hard work and sweat equity to keep out the weeds, pests, and to maintain a healthy environment.
- Creativity - Trying and creating new scripts and voices keeps one expanding their talents. Each crop season is a great opportunity to review what seeds you planted in the past and try something new, maybe a hybrid or heirloom crop. It's time to step out of your comfort zone.
- Community - When others see you pursuing your interests and sharing the fruits of your labor, they take notice, ask questions, and hopefully will be inspired to pass along their interests with others. Neighbors, friends, and family enjoy taking a peak at my garden and asking about my voice over progress.
So, there really are similarities between Voice Over and Gardening! I encourage you to think of the skills and interests that you have and you may be surprised what a detailed view might provide you.
